Basalt stones of varying shapes and sizes are used in conjunction with traditional strokes of Swedish massage to release and relax the muscles for a deeply soothing treatment. The heated stones are used in two ways. Placed on specific points along your spine, or in the palms of your hand, or between your toes to improve the flow of energy through your body. While these layout stones are delivering concentrated centers of heat, the therapist is simultaneously using oiled heated stones and applying Swedish massage techniques to stroke along the muscles of the legs, arms, and torso. The heat from the stones relaxes muscles, and increases the blood flow to the area being worked on which further accelerates the healing process.
